Following on from my 'Dancehall Nice Again' mix for Dont Panic earlier this summer, I was recently asked to compile a new mixtape for the Tropical crew up in Leeds.

These guys have been putting on wicked parties & pushing the tropical and karnival sound for a little while now, so I was delighted to be able to put together something that showcases some of the tunes I've been playing recently......

Mix Monday: From the Tundra to the Tropics.

The United Kingdom sits under a dirty white blanket of snow. On the other side of the world, Carnival season is getting into full swing. Whether you love the snow or are holed up under the sun lamp with a rum punch and Cumbia on the radio we've got a mix for that.

Tundra: First up is the incredible snow mix from Aussie Ex-Pat Dubsola This mix is perfect listening for frosty mornings; all arctic orchestration, frozen noise, and brittle drums. Crisp like winter air.

Its finally happening. STEAK 001 is coming out! The first record on our own imprint is on its way. Mr. Gasparov is Lisbon’s premier purveyor of Intelligent Bass Music. Using graphics tablets, midi controllers and a synth made from an old McDonalds till point, Mr Gasparov makes intricate, bass heavy dub techno / two step crossovers that will destroy any dancefloor with enough detail to keep the experimental heads attention.

‘1975′ is a slow build 2step workout with skittery beats and thumping sub that delivers in all the right places. Think El-B meets Aphex Twin under a tropical sky.
